Downtown Bellingham Partnership Announces 2023 Storefront Grant
Reminder: Downtown Bellingham Partnership Storefront Grant Applications Open
The Downtown Bellingham Partnership (DBP) is accepting applications for a matching grant program to assist up to three Downtown businesses with improvements to their building facades, signage, and/or surroundings. This program, managed by the DBP, is made possible by funding from community partner, BECU. After an application review and selection process, DBP will reimburse up to 50% of the cost of eligible improvements, to a maximum of $2,000 each for three different properties.
Grant Criteria:
Eligible applicants must be physically located within the Downtown Bellingham neighborhood and must be a business that is officially open. Awards shall be based on creativity, visual impact, and degree of change between before and after. The scope of the improvement project should have a quick turnaround for installation and is for work done to the exterior of the site only; interior work or projects are not eligible. Examples include façade improvements such as vinyl decals, signage, plants and containers, fresh paint, window signage, lighting and creative and imaginative exterior elements.
2023 Grant Timeline:
April 26 Application period opens.
May 24 Application period closes.
June 21 Project committee selects recipient.
September Goal for projected and reimbursement to be completed.
